Trézor.io/Start® — Starting Up Your Device

A simple, friendly guide with emojis to help you power on, secure, and get started safely. 🔒💡

Before you begin

Welcome! This page gives you clear, step-by-step instructions to start your Trézor device for the first time or after a reset. Follow prompts on the device and on the official setup site. Always confirm you are using the official Trézor website or app before entering secrets. 🧭

🔌Step 1 — Power & connect

1. Unbox the device and locate the USB-C/USB cable. 📦

2. Connect the device to your computer or compatible mobile device using the cable. The device will light up and show a welcome screen. ✨

3. If nothing appears, try a different USB port or cable—some ports supply insufficient power. 🔁

🖥️Step 2 — Visit the official start page

Open the official start page and follow its guided setup. The software will detect your device and offer the recommended flow. If the page asks you to download the desktop app, follow the instructions from the official source. Always verify URLs and certificates to avoid phishing risks. 🕵️‍♂️

🔐Step 3 — Create a PIN

The device will prompt you to create a PIN. This prevents local access to the device if it’s stolen. Choose a PIN that you can remember but that’s not trivially guessable. PIN is entered on the device — never share it. 🤫

🌱Step 4 — Backup your recovery phrase

Your device will display a recovery phrase — a human-readable series of words (your seed). Write these words down exactly and in order on the provided recovery card or a secure medium. Keep the backup offline and in a safe location. This is the single most important backup of your funds. 🗝️

  • Do not store the recovery phrase on a computer, cloud, or photo. 🚫
  • Consider multiple physical copies in separate safe locations. 🏦
  • Test recovery only using a blank device or official recovery tools—never input the phrase on an unknown website. ✅

Step 5 — Finish & verify

Once setup completes, the device will ask you to confirm a few things and may show a short verification prompt. Verify the address shown in your wallet app matches the device display before sending or receiving funds. This protects against host-side attacks. 🔍

♻️Tips for safe use

  • Keep firmware updated via official channels — updates include security improvements.
  • Beware of phishing links and fake apps: always verify sources.
  • Use a strong PIN and keep your recovery phrase offline and private.
  • Consider a passphrase (if you understand the added complexity) to create an additional layer of protection.

If you need more help, consult official support channels and documentation. This page is an introductory guide — always rely on official instructions for critical security operations. 🔐
